• Including Puppet Play in Remote Learning

If you are engaged in remote learning and your student’s attention is everywhere
except on you, try incorporating puppets! Years ago, Jim Henson, with his
collection of Sesame Street puppets, and Fred Rogers’ Daniel the tiger,
demonstrated that puppets can successfully be used to engage children even
through technology. You can use a puppet to introduce new words or concepts,
read a book, demonstrate social skills (such as “good listening”) and open up
“conversations” about feelings (happy, sad, excited, worried).

Puppets can be purchased through school supply
catalogues and from Big Box or dollar stores, however handmade puppets from
items like colorful socks, button or googly eyes and yarn hair are just as attention
    getting!
